The two of them

There is one day in between their birthdays.  Yesterday Cam turned 13 and tomorrow Olivia turns 10.  Today is the day in between.

They've always been close, and for that I am thankful.  But this birthday season makes them into even more of a unit than usual.  They become quite twinny as they plan wishlists, outings and birthday menus.  The excitement of the other one's birthday seems to make their own even better.  They spend weeks secretly drawing each other birthday pictures and working out what to buy one other.

And if they can keep this closeness through their teenage years I shall be delighted.  It doesn't always happen.

Happy Birthday, my two loves!

  4. Funny, I have a girl first and boy second, but their birthdays are 4 days apart and they were 13 and 10 too this year. I found it quite a milestone: one becoming a teenager, the other in double figures. It's the stage where you really can no longer say you've got small children.
Hope they both had a good birthday!

  5. Happy birthdays to them and to you. I have two boys, two years between them. Chalk and cheese, but they were close as children and now again as adults. The teenage years were not so good (at least while the younger revelled in being the irritating little brother) but now they are both in their 20s they get on really well, do lots of stuff together, and are supportive of each other when needed. All of which gives me a great deal of pleasure.

  8. I have lots of pictures of my children ignoring each other. You are a lucky woman.

  9. It is lovely of you to share this photo journey... what a treat. Thank you. Long may it continue. My little one (now 6) is slowly being taught by his brother how to respond to insults, being ignored, belittled and reprimanded at every opportunity. It is heartbreaking when their love and adoration is not mutual.
